Big Brown Triple CrownWinning the American Triple Crown is a cherished dream for all thoroughbred racehorses. Since 1875, countless horses have tried to win the Triple Crown - while only eleven have succeeded. Big Brown is all ready to complete the trifecta in 2008 with two amazing wins in first two legs of the Triple Crown. Everyone is expecting him at the winning podium!!!

Thirty years have gone by since Affirmed was honored the Triple Crown; in eleven of the past thirty years, horses have entered to Belmont with Triple Crown hopes. Silver Charm and Real Quiet ran brilliantly to finish second in 1997 and 1998 respectively while Charismatic placed himself third in 1999. From 2002 to 2004 we had Ware Emblem, Funny Cide and Smarty Jones. This year, Big Brown’s amazing performance in the last two legs of Triple Crown has fired up the dream again!

American Triple Crown is a grind of three thoroughbred races held in six weeks succession; the winner needs to clinch the winning titles in all three races at tracks, lengths and states. The inaugural ‘Run for the Roses’ - the Kentucky Derby - followed by the second jewel of Triple Crown – the Preakness Stakes; Big Brown has won both these races in style and is waiting for another gigantic feat at the Belmont Stakes.

Scanning through historical data we find there have been seventeen horses that won the first two stakes of the Triple Crown while failed registering a win at the Belmont. Big Brown has created big hope for us through his astounding performance since debut – five consecutive wins in five starts. Moreover, he is the first winner since 1929 to secure victory starting from the post-position 20.

After Big Brown’s jubilant performance in the first two races, he is heading towards Belmont Park in Elmont NY, to ensure the first Triple Crown in thirty years. After thirty years can we have another Triple Crown Winner in Big Brown?

Big Brown is the 11th horse to win the first two legs of racing's Triple Crown since Affirmed was the last to complete the trifecta 30 years ago in 1978. How the other 10 finished:
